I have a big sister and I am a big sister. Now that I have a daughter I’ve become inspired by her dresses in the same way I always wanted my sister’s dresses. Mostly my daughter wears dresses a few sizes too big and wears them untill they’re a few sizes too small. They all have gathered skirts and puffy sleeves and some zip up and tie up in the back. Inside of them her little body sits and plays and rests and rides around adoringly and exploratively.
I made her a Big Party Dress for her birthday and then I made one for her friend’s birthday. And then I made one for myself for a date. And now I’d like to make some for you!
The Big Sister’s Party Dress is a relaxed dress with elements of formailty. Puff sleeves with elastic to hold them up or fold them in, high boat neck with lower V back that undoes with a zipper. The gathered skirt is connected to the bodice with a yoke embroidered with a floral border and brought together with a thick tie at the base of your spine.
These dresses are Made To Order in your choice of fabric and size. Emma and Brooke are both wearing the s/m - in Chocolate Brown Raw Silk and Madder Pink Hemp. Brooke and Piper are wearing a s/m in Yellow Paisley Cotton, sleeveless.
